According to Corriepedia's list of 2024 appearances, as of 13th December 2024, the below characters have appeared the most in the soap across this year...
10) Lisa Swain and David Platt
With 117 appearances each, David and Lisa are joint 10th. With Lisa Swain only becoming a regular character this year, she jumped up a whopping 63 places, coming in at #73 in last year's list. David jumped up too, from #32 on the list last year.
There's been no end to Swain's drama so far this year, with the detective sergeant heavily involved in the disappearance of Lauren Bolton, and subsequent murder of Joel Deering.
There's family drama aplenty too, with the copper determined to find out who killed wife Becky, and constant drama from her teenage daughter, Betsy. Thankfully, it seems as if she and Carla are going to settle into a happy relationship in the year to come.
The Platt drama has ramped up this year too, especially in the final few months of the year. With Shona having an affair with Kit, David having stolen money to re-buy the family home, and Gail set to leave soon, it's looking like it'll only reach new heights in the coming weeks. Will he find out about his wife's affair?
9) Bethany Platt
Since her return at the beginning of the year, we've seen a lot of Bethany on the cobbles. She's come in at #8, with 118 appearances this year, jumping up from #58 when she last appeared in 2019.
Much of Bethany's drama this year has involved a rivalry with Daisy Midgeley, her love rival for Daniel Osbourne, culminating in the trainee journalist getting liposuction, due to her insecurities from constantly comparing herself to Daisy. After ending up with sepsis, due to the surgery going wrong, she's been left with a permanent stoma bag.
With plenty of Platt drama, and Daniel having recently slept with Daisy once more, there's bound to be more drama before Lucy Fallon heads on maternity leave in the coming weeks.
8) Daniel Osbourne
In a similar position to last year, Daniel has come in 8th, dropping two places from 6th last year. With 120 appearances this year, he's played a supporting role in many different storylines.
Much of his role this year has been at the centre of a love triangle, which has recently resurfaced as he slept with ex Daisy Midgeley. With fans hoping Daisy and Daniel will reunite in the coming weeks, the romantic drama is still very much at the centre of his life.
Daniel was also an initial suspect in Lauren Bolton's disappearance, and has been there to support Bethany through her botched cosmetic procedure.
7) Billy Mayhew
Coming in at 7th is Billy Mayhew, three places up from 10th last year, with 121 appearances.
His big storyline this year was the loss of husband, Paul Foreman, who slowly lost his battle with MND this year. We saw Billy as the supportive husband, trying to contend with the possibility of having to help him end his life, despite his strong faith and morals.
Eventually, Paul succumbed to MND, with Billy not there to say goodbye. Since then, we've seen him grappling with grief, struggling with his emotions, especially due to his former addiction.
6) Sarah Platt
With 122 appearances this year, Sarah has remained at #6, the same position as last year.
With Nathan getting out of prison this year, Sarah was the one who planned on framing him for murder, intending to plant one of Lauren's hairs in his van. Though she didn't go through with this, and bent cop Kit did it instead, she was questioned about her involvement in this case.
Since then, much of Sarah's 2024 drama has surrounded daughter Bethany and her adjustments to life with her stoma bag.
4) Carla Connor and Leanne Battersby
Next, each with 134 appearances this year, we have Carla and Leanne. Carla remains in the same position as last year, while Leanne has jumped up 26 places, from 30 last year.
It's been a big year for Carla, with the Underworld owner falling for DS Lisa Swain. This storyline has been met with much praise from fans, who are keen to see such an iconic character discovering her bisexuality later in life.

Leanne, on the other hand, has mainly been involved with the Institute storyline this year. Struggling mentally, she found herself brainwashed into a cult, and has since been struggling to come back from this.
While she recently won the court case against cult leader, Rowan, she's since discovered that her ex-husband Nick is seeing her sister Toyah behind her back. How far will she go with her revenge?
3) Toyah Habeeb
It's been a massive year for Toyah, with 139 appearances putting her in third place, a massive jump up from #55 on last year's list.
On top of family drama with sister Leanne, her affair with former brother-in-law Nick, and the recent loss of step-father, Les, one of Toyah's major storylines this year involved a retcon of her past. While loyal fans knew Toyah had been sexually assaulted back in 2001, an update this year had her admit to burying her stillborn daughter, a product of this attack, in a local park.
2) Nick Tilsley
With 160 appearances this year, Nick has moved up the list to #2, from 28 last year.
As aforementioned regarding Leanne and Toyah, he's been embroiled in the middle of a love triangle with the two sisters, having fallen for Toyah while Leanne was deeply involved in the Institute.
Now, he and Toyah think they've gotten away with sneaking around behind Leanne's back, but as she's caught on to their relationship, she's determined to make them pay.
1) Dee-Dee Bailey
With a whopping 197 appearances this year, Dee-Dee has come out on top, jumping up from 8th place last year.
It's no surprise that she's so high up the list, as she was heavily involved in Joel's major storylines this year. As his fiancée, Dee-Dee was shocked to discover that Joel was grooming young girls, something he'd hidden from her so well throughout their time together.
Naturally, hurt and betrayed by this discovery, she ended up being a key player in the whodunnit storyline. Though she did hit Joel with a crowbar, she wasn't the one who killed him in the end, with Lauren finishing the job. Now, Dee-Dee has found herself pregnant with Joel's baby, with a big decision to make.
