1000 appearances on Coronation Street is an achievement only a few current members of the cast have celebrated to date (Alison King, Jane Danson and Tina O'Brien to name a few), and another member of the Barlow clan can now be added to that list.
As of this week, Rob Mallard has appeared in a whopping 1000 episodes of Coronation Street, as Daniel Osbourne.
When he stepped into the role in November 2016, little was known about Ken Barlow's youngest son. While Dominic Holmes played the role for seven episodes in 2007, that was the last viewers saw of Daniel, until Rob joined the street as the then 21-year-old son of the cobbles' most prolific man.

Over the last eight years, Rob has really grown into the role of Daniel, and the bookish school teacher has proven to be layered and complex. With storylines ranging from pushing Ken down the stairs, to late wife Sinead's cancer, to a major supporting role in ex-fiancée Daisy's stalking storyline, there's been no shortage of drama in his life.
Recently, fans have been delighted to see him drawn to his old flame, Daisy, once again — will they finally get their happy ending? Currently, Daniel is once again embroiled in a love triangle, allowing Rob to showcase his talent once more.
In 2017, 2018 and 2019 alike, the talented actor was nominated for numerous awards, including Best Newcomer at Inside Soap Awards, NTAs and British Soap Awards, and Best Male Dramatic Performance at the BSAs. His talent has been recognised on numerous occasions, though with him playing more of a supporting role in most recent storylines, it would be excellent to see him take centre stage once again.

Rob excels in both comedy and drama; Daniel has some excellent one-liners, and he clearly throws his all into every storyline he's involved in. His chemistry with Charlie Jordan is always incredible, with the two always delivering a masterclass in acting whenever they're in scenes together.
As we head into 2025, the ninth year of Rob playing Daniel, fans are hoping to see more of his relationship with Daisy, and we're also hoping to see him take more of a lead role.
He's a character with a lot of nuance, who's grown a lot over the years. There are certainly plenty of routes they could take his character in from here, and we can't wait to see how Rob handles the next chapter of Daniel's life.
