Coronation Street Airs Huge Twist in Daisy and Daniel Story

In today’s festive visit to Weatherfield, all eyes were on the Platt family.

With so much drama for the iconic family in recent weeks, fans were keen to see how Gail said her final goodbye to the street — would she go through with marrying Jesse, or leave on her own?

Much of the episode was dedicated to Gail and the rest of the family, with heaps of nostalgia and goodbyes offered to the much loved character.

There was one twist, however, that was Platt adjacent — and while some saw it coming, the big reveal on Christmas Day came as a huge shock to fans.

While many have been hoping for Daisy and Daniel’s reunion for a long time now, the guilt ridden teacher got down and one knee and proposed to girlfriend Bethany tonight, trying to convince himself she was the one he wanted to be with.

At the start of this month, Daisy and Daniel slept together again, in an impromptu reunion in the back room of the Rovers. Many predicted that the spontaneity of this would mean the pair forgot birth control during this encounter.

Tonight, Daisy texted Daniel informing him she needed to talk to him, insisting it was important. When he didn’t reply, she headed out to see him — but, heartbreakingly, she witnessed him get down on one knee and propose.

Alone, she headed back to the Rovers, where viewers saw her clutching a positive pregnancy test.

While the barmaid is now with Kit, they slept together later, so would a test come back positive this soon?

Kate Brooks previously teased that Daisy and Daniel’s affair would have consequences, telling The Mirror it would ‘come back to bite their bums’.

It was also teased that the love triangle would play out into January, with ‘a big surprise’ tossed into the ring.

Now that we’ve seen the surprise is Daisy falling pregnant, will this be what leads to Bethany leaving town for Lucy Fallon’s maternity leave? Will Daisy tell Daniel the truth, before she comes to any kind of decision?

Now that he’s engaged to her rival, and ignored her texts about needing an important conversation, might she make up her mind without him knowing she’s potentially carrying her child?

As it’s been reported that Daisy heads to Daniel’s flat next week to cut ties with him and little Bertie, will she walk out of his life without telling him the truth? Or might this be blurted out in the heat of the moment, when he tries to talk to her about the decision to walk away from him?

Either way, secrets never stay secrets for long in Weatherfield — especially when those secrets involve affairs and pregnancy. There’s no way this one will remain a secret for long…
