There's been a killer on the loose for a good month or so in Weatherfield (and no, we're not talking about Gary Windass this time!) And police have been desperate, desperate we tell you, to find out who killed Joel Deering after finding his body...

Coronation Street airs Joel whodunnit update

Tonight (Friday, November 15), the nation gathered around their tellies to watch Coronation Street's Joel whodunnit mystery come to a peak. Viewers finally found out who finished the bad guy off.

With Joel's body recently being discovered floating in the river, police then announced that they were starting a murder investigation. They believed that Joel had been killed.

Mason, Ed, Ronnie, Dee-Dee, Lisa, Carla and Kit were all suspects but everything came down to Lauren and Max in the end.

Whilst Max initially handed himself into the police earlier on in the week and admitted to murder, flashbacks revealed the truth at long last.

So, in the end, Max was actually covering for Lauren the whole time although he had been her accomplice.

Max had been involved in some sort of showdown with Joel on the railway tracks, resulting in Joel trying to squeeze his hands around his neck. Lauren then stepped in to save Max's life by striking Joel with a rock.

Were you surprised that Lauren killed Joel?

  • Yes

  • No

Once he was confirmed to be dead, the pair then threw his body into a river before disposing of the evidence. Gruesome.

What's next? Well, Max wants Lauren to stick to his 'self-defence' story and keep her part in Joel's death a secret so that she can be with Frankie. Will she do as Max wants though? We'll have to wait and see!
