Coronation Street star Sydney Martin reveals how Betsy Swain almost looked very different in appearance

Coronation Street actress Sydney Martin has been on-screen as Betsy Swain for around six months now and she's already become a fan favourite as far as viewers are concerned.

But, Sydney has now revealed that the Betsy we know and love almost looked very different.

Betsy rocked up on the Street mid way through last year, at first being introduced as Sabrina's mate. She got herself involved with villain Joel Deering, with it then being revealed that she was actually DS Lisa Swain's teenage daughter.

A fashion student, Betsy started working at Underworld part time. She was grieving her other mum Becky who died a couple of years ago and had been rebelling, giving Lisa a tough time.

Getting into a relationship with reformed bad boy Mason Radcliffe, Betsy disapproved of her mum's new relationship with Carla, even trying to teach her a lesson by helping Mason and Logan rob the factory.

Eventually she came round the the idea of Carla being Lisa's partner, but Betsy now has another upset in her life as her boyfriend Mason has just been killed after being stabbed by his brothers - the same lads who are suspected to have killed Becky.

Sydney Martin reveals Betsy appearance change

We know that Betsy likes her fashion and has two strands of coloured hair mixed in with her blonde. One strand is blue, the other pink.

However, Betsy's blonde hair almost had to go as the Corrie team initially wanted to have Betsy have pink hair all over.

On TikTok live today, actress Sydney Martin revealed: "Fun fact. Betsy was going to have pink hair in the beginning but we agreed on the blonde."

But, could we see Betsy dye her hair in the future perhaps?
