2024 was a big year for Corrie, with viewers being treated to storylines such as Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) villainy and murder, Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) motor neurone disease and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla Connor’s (Alison King) new romance, but as Kate Brooks begins her first full year as producer, here’s some of what we have to look forward to in 2025.

The return of Rob
We’re starting the new year off with a bang as Carla’s brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), last seen in 2017, is visited in prison by his son Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) in a desperate search to find a kidney donor for Carla, whose recently contracted sepsis has damaged her kidney to the point of needing another transplant.
Rob, who has found God while inside doing time for the murder of Tina McIntyre in 2014, agrees to donate if he’s a match, but Carla later discovers that she’d have to go private for the transplant due to the cost of keeping a prisoner in hospital.
The Corrie boss has confirmed that Rob isn’t just back for a couple of episodes and will, as the year unfolds, disrupt the peace that Lisa and Carla have found and cause trouble for the pair, being a real challenge in the early stages of their relationship. Brooks has also explained that Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) will be at the centre of the story as well.
Lisa and Carla’s relationship was a fan favourite storyline of 2024 and viewers will be pleased to hear that they will be a prominent focus of 2025.

Mason stabbed
Reformed bully Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) is set to be stabbed by his brothers Matty (Séamus McGoff) and Logan (Harry Lowbridge) in upcoming scenes as he tries to flee Weatherfield.
Having been living with Sally and Tim Metcalfe since just before Christmas, the teenager finds his relationship on the rocks when girlfriend Betsy doesn’t believe he had nothing to do with her mum Becky’s death three years ago.
Deciding to make his amends and leave, Mason apologises to Liam Connor for his past actions and heads to the precinct with Dylan Wilson. Matty and Logan catch up with the pair and whilst Dylan manages to escape, they corner Mason.
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) finds Mason bleeding from a stab wound and an ambulance is called, but whether or not he survives the attack is something we’ll just have to hold our breath for. Kate Brooks has promised that the consequences of this will affect many in Weatherfield.
Corrie are working with the Ben Kinsella Trust to make sure the story is done justice, as knife crime has increased in recent years and it remains a pressing social issue.

Cancer shock for Kevin
Mason’s stabbing won’t be the only thing on Abi’s mind as her husband Kevin Webster (Michael le Vell) will be diagnosed with testicular cancer early on this year, and this will put a big strain on their marriage.
He won’t be embarrassed by this diagnosis and will be open about it with his friends, but it’s his relationship with Abi that will be what’s tested through this, with Brooks alluding to temptation that could distract her from what’s important.
The Corrie boss has also expressed interest in building up the Webster family, with Carl Webster, Kevin and Debbie’s brother, joining the show. Though not officially confirmed, it has been reported that Debbie will be diagnosed with dementia in the coming months, with a long exit storyline that will last beyond 2025.

Also upcoming
As David and Shona try to repair their marriage and David faces the consequences of stealing Damon’s money, there will be a fire at the Platt house in a huge stunt that could wreak devastation.
Incoming “neighbours from hell” Mike and Lou will have a connection with bent copper Kit that will expose his past. Some fans have theorised that he’s been lying about being Bernie’s son and these are relatives of his, but as no information about them has been released, all we can do is wait and see.
There will be multiple surprise exits that will take viewers by shock, but there will also be returns of a few familiar faces.
All in all, it looks like it’s going to be an eventful year on the cobbles and we can’t wait to see what’s to come.
