Coronation Street annual recap: A year in the life of DS Lisa Swain

On Coronation Street, Lisa Swain had had a really eventful year. In fact, she's not had much of a break, bless her.

Here's a look at 2024 for DS Lisa Swain as the year draws to a close.

Coronation Street Lisa Swain: Arresting Roy

In the first half of the year, DS Lisa Swain had a big case to work on as Lauren Bolton disappeared. Lisa then presumed that Lauren was dead and started arresting murder suspects.

Roy Cropper looked rather guilty due to having been seen cleaning Lauren's flat by Bobby after she went missing. With blood also being found in the flat, Lisa arrested Roy on suspicion of murdering Lauren.

Roy was victim to online and in person hate from trolls calling him 'creepy Cropper,' He was then sent to prison, coming face to face with Lauren's dad, Griff. Griff then held Roy at knifepoint and wanted him dead.

Carla was livid with Lisa for Roy's stint in prison and tried to do everything she could to get her friend back home where he belonged. Eventually, Carla got her wish and it turned out that Lauren wasn't even dead after all.

Betsy

In May, viewers found out that Lisa has a daughter - Betsy. Betsy is a teen with a rebellious nature, grieving her other mum Becky.

Betsy started work at Underworld and has caused a few issues for Lisa and Carla. Betsy even contributed to a robbery at the factory which caused Carla to suffer a brain bleed... But, Lisa is unaware of this at the moment...

One of Lisa's main focuses in life is to make sure that Betsy is looked after. But, as Betsy starts to spend more time with Mason, will Lisa start to put herself first?

Joel Deering's case

With Lauren alive, it was then revealed that Joel had actually attacked her and had been grooming her.

Lisa then started making it her mission to get Joel banged up, especially after finding out that he'd been threatening Betsy.

Joel was then dramatically killed, with his body being found in the river by a group of lads.

At one point, Lisa was a key suspect and spent the night in a cell. However, it was eventually revealed that Lauren had killed Joel by hitting him with a rock.

Grief of Becky

Lisa's wife Becky died a few years ago whilst on duty at work. As a training cop, she was chased by a car and died on the job.

Both Lisa and Betsy have been grieving Becky ever since, with Betsy worried that her mum would try to replace Becky with another woman.

Recently, Lisa realised that the Radcliffe brothers might've had something to do with Becky's death. She's now making it her mission to find out the truth about who was actually in the car that killed her wife.

Carla

Despite not looking for love, Lisa has found herself in a relationship with Carla Connor.

After having feelings for each other for months, the friends finally faced up to them and decided to give things a go.

Lisa realised that she couldn't lose Carla after a brain bleed nearly killed her. She then admitted her feelings for her.

Now, the couple are enjoying spending some time with each other before a very dramatic start to 2025. But, luckily, they'll come out of it all stronger than ever!
