Opinion: 'We deserve closure' - Aggie Bailey needs to return to Coronation Street

Remember Aggie Bailey? - The matriarch of the Bailey family. A woman with a hugely caring nature and a lot of love to give. Despite this, nobody could take Aggie for a fool, oh no. Those were the days.

But, now, there's a huge Aggie shaped hole on Coronation Street. So, what happened to her? Will we ever see her again?

The biggest mystery in soap - Where did Aggie Bailey go?

Viewers last saw Aggie Bailey in June 2023. She was busy faking smiles with an old neighbour Yvette - a woman who was very annoying and full on. We didn't blame Aggie for finding her company challenging.

When Aggie won an auction, she immediately regretted it. And, she clearly took the win so badly that she upped and left, and if we're honest, she's taken a rather long time to reflect on the whole situation.

Jokes aside, Aggie headed off to Birmingham to help a sick aunt. We're surprised she got any time off work considering how she single-handedly made sure Weathy General was up and running on the daily. Poor Aggie's aunt must've been so sick that she didn't even bother saying a proper goodbye to her family before dashing out of Weatherfield.

After Ed got involved with gambling again, Michael phoned Aggie up and told her about it. With this, Aggie ended her lengthy marriage over the phone. Ed, bless his heart, made the track to Brum to try to patch things up but came back to Weatherfield a single man. Ouch. We reckon that Ed deserves a better attempt at closure, and so do we.

Coronation Street: Weatherfield is missing Aggie

There are few traces of Aggie left on the Street despite her huge current connections. We'll always slightly sob when we see the Bailey family photo still on display in Dee-Dee's flat.

Aggie was the heart and centre of the Bailey family and Dee-Dee needs her mum now more than ever. Dee-Dee's mum was always there for James and Michael during their own personal hours of need, but what about Dee-Dee? Having Aggie fail to even reach out to Dee-Dee after the whole Joel-ruining-her-life thing makes little sense...

And, then there's Tim - Aggie's bestie. There was a time when Tim was so close to Aggie that Sally even suspected the pair of having an affair! Yet, Aggie was nowhere to be seen when Tim almost died at the hands of Stephen. Never once did she check in.

It's fair to say that Aggie should be back on the Street. The Aggie we knew and loved would never have ended her marriage over the phone. A return. A recast. We don't mind, but Aggie needs to come back home!
