Swarla finally reappeared onto our screens again tonight in Coronation Street after a two week break.
After making things official the last time we saw them, the new couple decided to enjoy a spa day together at Chariot Square Hotel.
Here's why these scenes had us feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Swarla spa day on Coronation Street
This evening marked the return of Swarla after a mini 'drought' as some fans have been branding it.
In their first scenes after deciding to make a go of things, Carla and Lisa joined each other at Chariot Square for a spa day.
Debbie saw the pair together and wrongly assumed that they were friends. Carla failed to correct her, with Lisa bringing this up once alone with Carla in their hotel room.
Lisa was worried that Carla was having second thoughts about their relationship, but Carla reassured her, telling her 'I want you.'
Carla was comforted by Lisa agreeing that there was no rush to go public with their relationship, then inviting Lisa and Betsy to spend Christmas with her. Although, she made it clear that they'd only be eating takeaway pizza rather than a roast on the day itself. Ah, the sacrifices one makes for love...

Small scenes, huge representation
Alongside all of this conversation, the chemistry Carla and Lisa have is undeniable. The two could be seen sharing moment of intimate affection with each other, holding hands and sharing neck kisses whilst dressed in their spa robes.
We went wild over these scenes despite them being one of the lesser focused on storylines within the episode. This is due to the representation these little scenes gave us.
These scenes saw Carla fully embrace her feelings for a woman, being affectionate. This is something we see very little on television, making for a positive change. The ease and comfort of the relationship and their obvious love for each other may help viewers become more comfortable with their own identity too due to this representation.
Incorporating little glimpses of Swarla's relationship into an episode like today's proves that Corrie has gone about this completely right. Swarla is so much more than a storyline. They're something that represents so many viewers who can't help but be excited at recognising aspects of themselves on television through the couple. And this is why even the smallest of scenes mean the most to viewers in the LGBTQ+ community.
Every brush of the hand, small kiss, or longing glance has so much meaning. Sometimes that's enough. That's what's needed. No grand gestures, no big stunts, just two women happy and in love.
Lots of us never saw scenes like this growing up, so to have this now means so much more than we can ever say.
